sentiment signs revisited
June 01, 2016
Happy June, everyone! The beginning of the month means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. This month we are revisiting the Sentiment Signs set:
This set is a collections of subway sign style sentiment blocks (that I designed!) that cover a variety of occasions. I love when a sentiment set works well as something that can take center stage on your project and also work as something for a background design - and more! The projects that I have to share with you today highlight both of these things.
For this first card, I created an actual sign to use as the focal point of this card. I stamped the wood background stamp from the Background Basics: Farm & Barn set in Classic Kraft ink onto kraft cardstock. Then I embossed the thanks sentiment block onto the wood background with white embossing powder. It looks like one of the signs that are oh so popular at craft shows and in home decor right now.
I attached my sign over the wreath that I stamped with the Paper Clippings: Thinking of You set. This card design is so versatile because you could swap out just about any of the other sentiment blocks from the set and it would work for different occasions.
For this birthday card, I used the Sentiment Signs birthday block as a background element. I stamped the sentiment block several times and embossed it with clear embossing powder on one side of a piece of white cardstock. I inked a piece of acetate with Orange Zest, Berry Sorbet, and Raspberry Fizz inks and then spritzed them with water to do the smooshing technique over the top of the embossed words. Wherever the embossed words were resisted the inks.
I used the Big Basics: Birthday die cut from white cardstock as the main focal point of the card and added some stars that I had cut from the Luxe Silver adhesive paper for a festive touch.
Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the Sentiment Signs set: Betsy, Dawn, Danielle, and Melissa.
The Papertrey Ink June release will be here before you know it - thank you so much for stopping by today!
