super stars revisited
July 01, 2016
Happy July! The first of the month means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. This month we are revisiting the Super Stars set:
One of the things I love about star images is how you can use them for so many types of cards: birthday, baby, congratulations, holiday, etc. The Super Stars set is one I reach for pretty regularly, even if it just to use some of the little stars from the set as an accent on a project. It was great to sit down and create some cards exclusively with Super Stars and I played around with creating some background designs to use with the sentiments in the set.
This card would be perfect for a new baby or even an encouragement card for a child for a big event or just because. I created the background with one of the larger stars in the set stamped in Berry Sorbet and Pale Peony and then I added smaller start in-between them in Soft Stone ink.
I stamped the sentiment onto some vellum and added a star embellishment that I die cut from Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush felt, layered together, and stitched down to the card front. I added a few wooden stars around the sentiment to finish the card off.
Here's another card that is perfect for encouragement or just sending some love to a special someone. I stamped a background paper with some of the smaller stars in the set in Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, and Soft Stone inks. It's really is fun to just play with pattern when creating a backgrounds like these. You might even get a little inspiration from looking at patterns on Pinterest or just looking at patterns in everyday things. There's no right or wrong way to approach it - just play!
I used one of the sentiments in the set that makes the star trail and had it come out from another felt star embellishment. This one is die cut from Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores felt, layered together, and stitched to the card front. I added a few more little stars stamped in Fresh Snow ink on the Soft Stone card base along with a few wooden stars.
Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the Sentiment Signs set: Betsy, Dawn, Danielle, and Melissa.
The Papertrey Ink July release will be here before you know it - thank you so much for stopping by today!
