wreath christmas tags

I adore making tags for the holidays and this week my studio has been busy getting this year's design ready for gift wrapping. I found some inspiration online and I think you will love how I translated it to stamping and made it my own...

I found this cute little wreath place card idea through Pinterest and thought of my Sprig Wreath set and how that could translate into a great tag for Christmas gifts.

I pulled out my supplies and started stamping up a bunch of wreaths with Prairie Grass ink that I die cut out with the coordinating Sprig Wreath die.

I decided that instead of names on each tag, I wanted a Christmas sentiment. I used the "Christmas" from the Jingle All the Way dies cut from white cardstock and the coordinating "merry" from the Jingle All the Way set. The tags are die cut with the Minute to Make Holiday Tags dies from kraft cardstock to put the sentiment onto.

This is the way I tend to put projects like this together. I have a general idea of what I want to do and get all of the basics put together - the inspiration piece definitely helped so much for this project. There's usually a design prototype being assembled as I go to make sure everything is working together.

Once I had the basics put together, I added details like the stamped berries in Pure Poppy ink, the little stamped and die cut sprigs on the tag, and an eyelet to tie some twine through. These tags are definitely a little more detailed than a quick and easy design, but once everything was prepped they really went together pretty quickly.

And how pretty they look for dressing up Christmas gifts! You could leave the tags as is and add a separate label to indicate who the gift is for.

Or you can add a little tag with the gift recipients name on it. I typed these up on my typewriter (you could also print from your computer too.) I trimmed strips with the names on them and then used a square punch to notch the ends of the strips of each name.

Just pop them right onto the tag under the merry Christmas sentiment and your tags are personalized and ready to go!

So that is my version of the wreath place cards turned into a tag design for Christmas gifts. I love how they turned out and can't wait to add them to my wrapped packages. Adding a personalized and handmade touch is something that I really love to do.

Happy stamping and wrapping, everyone, and thank you so much for stopping by today!
