latin inspiration
January 13, 2017
Hello and welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink January release countdown. Today is a group post day and the design team is sharing projects created with the new Latin Motifs and Palm Prints sets.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on January 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
Bright colors like reds and greens stood out to me as I took a little time peruse some Latin art inspiration. It's always a good thing to go outside of the box, explore, and try something new when you are creating projects - I always surprise myself!
I love all of the fun elements that are a part of the new Latin Motifs set and spent some time just playing and stamping to create this first card. The doc image is just perfect to stamp onto kraft cardstock with Fresh Snow ink and then I layered the detail on top of the image (when it was dry) with Cocoa Bean ink.
The flowers are stamped in Pure Poppy, the leaves are stamped in Simply Chartreuse, and the details on both the flowers and the leaves are Cocoa Bean ink. I also stamped the sentiment in Cocoa Bean ink.
The little strip on the bottom edge is stamped with an image from the Latin Motifs set in Honey Nut ink onto Honey Nut cardstock.
On this card, while the color and images have a Latin art feel, the technique I used on the card - batik - is not! Batik actually originated over in Indonesia and areas around it, although it is found in many cultures of the world. I thought the leaves in the Palm Prints set were just perfect to use for this technique.
To learn more about the batik technique, you can view this post on my blog.
The sentiment on the card was created with the Wonderful Words: Hello set and coordinating die. I embossed the "just a note to say" in white onto a strip of True Black cardstock and attached it to the card front above the die cut "hello". The "hello" is die cut 3 times and stacked up to stand out a bit on the card.
You can see more new products being debuted today for the January release over at Nichole's blog. From there you can link up to other members of the design team who have new things to share with you today too!
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I will be back very soon with more to share!
