Hello everyone and welcome to a Papertrey Ink Throwback Thursday! Today, a few of us from the design team are revisiting the Irresistibly Ikat stamp set today.
I see ikat patterns everywhere when I am shopping for clothing and home decor items. It certainly is a trend that has been sticking around for a while. The Irresistibly Ikat set gives you the perfect elements to create your own patterns and designs on your projects and I did just that with the project that I have to share with you today - and I incorporated one of my very favorite techniques too!
I chose the flower looking image from the stamp set to create the all over background design for my card. I stamped the images with Versamark ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder on some watercolor paper. You can see some of the texture from the watercolor paper showing through in the embossed images and I thought it was a great effect for my project.
After I got all of the images stamped and embossed, I added ink to the background. I did that by smooshing my ink pad onto a crafting mat that I use (you could also use a piece of acetate), spritzing the ink with some water, and pressing the paper right into the wet ink. I used Dark Indigo and Olive Twist inks and just let the colors flow and blend in to each other. I let the inks dry and then spattered some more ink over the top of the design.
I used an ink blending tool to add a little Cocoa Bean ink around the edges of the watercolor paper.
For the sentiment, I stamped it with black ink onto a kraft cardstock strip and then attached it to the stamped piece with some eyelets. The whole stamped piece is attached to a kraft cardstock card base.
Lizzie is also sharing a project created with the Irresistibly Ikat stamp set today. Make sure to stop by her blog to check it out. Thank you so much for stopping by today!
