papertrey ink june release - bold basics + color block + summer perks!

Welcome to another fun extra release for Papertrey Ink! Today we are featuring the new Bold Basics stamp set and Color Block stencils. If you purchase the bundle that includes the Bold Basics stamp set and Color Block stencils you will save 10% in the Papertrey Ink store June 30- July 2. Make sure to stop by the store and take advantage of the sale!

I decided to do a little bit of watercoloring with the new Color Block stencils to build the background for this card. I used a water brush and wet the open areas of the stencil and then added Berry Sorbet and Raspberry Fizz inks to that area to create a fun, blended look. I added some more spatters of water and ink to add some more texture too. I love how the colors bleed and flow just a bit, but still hold the general shape of the stencil opening.

I left the stencil in place and then layered the a polka dot stencil over the top and applied an embossing paste through it. This paste has a bit of a pearlized look to it and I also sprinkled a bit of glitter onto it while it was still wet too.

The balloons are die cut from Berry Sorbet cardstock - originally I made some balloons to match the watercolor background, but they really blended into the background too much when I started laying out the design, so I will save them for another project. They sure are pretty though!

I added the sentiment from the Bold Basics set. It was in one line and I cut the stamp so I could easily stamp it in two lines for this card. I stamped a few star images from the Bold Basics stamp set for a festive finishing touch!
