simple to spectacular: tea for two

I am a part of the Simple to Spectacular feature today at Papertrey Ink using the Tea For Two stamp set.

Pulling out the Tea For Two stamp set to create for this Simple to Spectacular challenge was a delight. I am a tea drinker myself and one of my favorite things about tea are all of the fun colored teapots that are out there. I stamped some bright and fun turquoise colored teapots and took my card design from something pretty simple all the way up to adding all of the fun details and extras.

I kept this first card so, so simple. I stamped a background with the teapot outline with Fresh Snow ink on some kraft cardstock and added a teapot stamped on white cardstock with black ink and Hawaiian Shores ink.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink under the teapot and then I added the stamped piece to a white card base.

To step things up for this next card, I did see ink blending on the main tea pot image to make it pop just a bit more. I used Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, and Tropical Teal and it is amazing what a difference it makes versus stamping with just one color of ink.

I added color to the background images by stamping the polka dot tea pot image into the Fresh Snow outlines. I also added the scalloped border using just the inner piece of the Scallop Stackers: Small dies.

For my spectacular version of this card design, it's again just a few small elements that I added to step things up. What goes with a tea party? Flowers, of course! I did some embellishing around the teapot with some flowers from the Flower Power stamp set along with a few rainstones.

The background has teapots stamped with alternating rows of Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores inks. The difference is subtle, but adds a whole lot of dimension to the card. I also used both of the Scallop Stackers: Small dies on the background to add more detail to that layer of the card design.
