homespun holiday: keepsake ornament kit

Hey, everyone! I am so excited to share something new today that I am honored to be a part of. My good friend, Lizzie Jones, has started doing her own product releases of stitching dies at Poshta Design! Lizzie and I worked together for many years together at Papertrey Ink and I am so lucky to know her and call her a dear friend. She was famous for her stitched projects and products that she shared through PTI and I am thrilled that she is choosing to continue sharing her talents with all of us!

This week will mark the debut of her first kit: Homespun Holiday: Keepsake Ornaments Kit. Here are the details:

Who doesn't enjoy the holiday season, homes dressed with twinkle lights and special baubles that we see but once a year? Our debut stitching kit features four ornament shaped dies and a wide array of embellishments to make creating those special, heirloom ornaments a joy. The possibilities with this kit are truly endless! From 100% wool felt to a carefully curated collection of beads and sequins, everything you need to make beautiful ornaments arrives right to your door in one convenient package. The hardest part is choosing your favorite Color Story! This kit even includes needles, ribbon for hanging, and a zippered project bag so you can keep your works-in-progress safe and tidy. Lizzie has five different color story options and I chose to work with Classic Yuletide. I personally love the traditional reds and greens for the holidays and I adore the gold polka dot felt in this collection! Here's a look at what I created:
I stitched up five different ornaments with the kit and I loved every bit of creating the different looks with the different options in the kit.
This grouping of red and green ornaments use the circular ornament base shape and the petal ornament base shape. When you cut out the pieces from the felt, all of the stitching holes are included right in the pieces, so there is no guess work on how to stitch things together. There's an idea sheet included in the kit to get you started for adding details to the ornaments, but once I got going, the ideas just started flowing!
There are shapes to add openings in the ornaments, shapes to layer behind and/or on top to stitch on, there are dies to add holes for embroidery details, and more. Once I had my basic designs picked out and the pieces started coming together, I also added sequins and beads to my ornaments for sparkle and shine!
This next set of ornaments are created with the burgundy and light green felts in the Classic Yuletide collection. I used the vintage shaped ornament base for one and the petal shaped ornament base for the other. The embroidery stitches I used are the running stitching and the backstitch. Both of these are basic embroidery stitches and are relatively easy to do.
I love the dies in the kit made to add embroidered details like the snowflake design on the burgundy ornament and the loops on the green ornament. I added sequins and beads to my designs as I went to dress them up.
I really love how my ornaments turned out and am looking forward to using them in my holiday decorating. Wouldn't these be pretty strung together as a garland? I also think the ornaments would be wonderful tied to holiday packages for family and friends.
Congratualtions, Lizzie! Thank you for letting me be a part of your first kit debut and I look forward to many more!
