taylored expressions - valentine treats!
January 11, 2022
Hey, everyone! We aren't done with new Valentine products at Taylored Expressions! Today there are several new products that are perfect for packaging up those Valentine treats: tags, treat boxes, and more. I have several projects to share with you today, including the treat bags in the photo above that feature my new Critter Clips - Valentine die collection.
The new products for the release are available to purchase RIGHT NOW in the Taylored Expressions webstore!
The Critter Clips collections were originally designed to add to a jumbo paper clip to create a cute clip for a gift, but the critters can be used on other types of projects too! I created a set of gift boxes using the new Critter Clips - Valentine die collection and Valentine Treat Totes. They'll be perfect for packaging up Valentine treats and gifts. The Valentine Treat Totes are precut and scored boxes in a set of 12 in 2 colors: 6 of Guava and 6 of Fruit Punch. You can decorate the boxes, if you wish, and then fold to assemble. I used a 1/4" sticky tape to adhere the boxes together so they will hold together well.
I added the scalloped circle detail to the boxes using the Masking Stencils - Scalloped Circles set and Swiss Hearts Mini Slim stencil before I assembled them. It was the perfect landing spot on the box for the critters!
I cut the critters out from 100% wool felt (see the supply list below for the colors I used) and put them together with a thick craft glue. One they were dry, I added them to the scalloped circles on the boxes.
The tags are created from cardstock that is stenciled with the Swiss Hearts Mini Slim stencil. I stamped the sentiments from the Itty Bitty Sentiments - Valentine stamp set in Oreo ink, cut them out with a Heart Stacklets die, added a few Bits & Pieces - Hearts, punch a hole on one side, and attached them to the treat boxes with burlap twine. (Did you notice that the sentiments I used coordinate with the critters from the Critter Clips - Valentine die collection?)
**This project is featured today over on the Taylored Expressions blog along with a video showing how I created it. Make sure to check it out!
Supplies:
The new Penguin Hugs Die & Clear Combo set is absolutely adorable and it was so much fun to put the penguins together for this set of heart cards. I cut out the penguins from several colors of cardstock: Poppy seed for the main body, Sugar Cube for the face and tummy, and Candy Corn for the beak and feet. The eyes are stamped with Oreo ink using the clear stamps in the set. I folded the penguins wings in to hold a heart stamped with the 'hugs' word.
The heart card bases are made with the largest Heart Stacklets die. I folded a piece of Fruit Punch cardstock in half and then made sure that the fold for the card was sitting right inside the cutting edge so that it would not cut through when I sent it through my die cut machine. I stenciled the front with the Polka Party stencil and added the penguin along with a few Bits & Pieces - Hearts. The inside of the card is stamped with a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Sentiments - Valentine stamp set.
These little penguin cards turned out so cute and I can't wait to give them to my girls for Valentine's Day with their treats!
Supplies:
This set of treat bags feature tags created with the new Simple Tags - Valentine stamp and Simple Tags - Valentine Layering Stencil set. You stamp all four tags at once with the stamp, add details with the coordinating stencils, and then cut out al of the tags with one pass through your die cut machine using the Simple Tags die.
I actually stenciled my tags using Cherry Pop and Guava inks first and then stamped over the top with Sugar Cube ink because I wanted good ink coverage with the stamping. Lining the stamp up with the stenciled design was very easy using a MISTI Clear Alignment Panel. I layered the tags with an additional tag cut out of Fruit Punch cardstock for an extra pop of color.
A few Bits & Pieces - Hearts are added to the tags and I used burlap twine to tie the tags to Polka Dot Kraft Bags. To dress the bags up just bit more for Valentine's Day, I stamped hearts onto the white dots with Fruit Punch ink.
