taylored expressions - patriotic party!

Hey, everyone! It's release day at Taylored Expressions and it's a Patriotic Party! I am excited to share several projects that I created with the new products from today's release!

This pair of cards is perfect for thanking the people who are serving and have served our country. My Dad was in the Air Force and Air National Guard for over 20 years and it meant the world to him when he was thanked for his service. We lost him this past November and he was honored during his hospice care with a special service that included a handmade card. The card really touched me as a special token of appreciation, especially with my card making background.

This card features the new Americana background stamp that I designed! The stamp is a 6x6 size that is split so that you can ink and stamp the background in two colors very easily. I stamped the stars with Blueberry ink and the stripes in Cherry Pop ink. The sentiment is from the Americana Expressions stamp set and is heat embossed in silver. The banner is cut out using an Arched Stacklets die (just flipped it upside down!) and I adhered it to a Toffee cardstock background stamped with the Star Fall Background stamp using Toffee ink. I added a pair of American flags to the banner that are created with the new American Flag die collection and added a sparkly final touch of silver glitter cardstock stars.

This card shows a banner option created with a Foil It - Americana panel. I cut TE Fun Foil in Blueberry and Cherry Pop to cover the stars and stripes and foiled the panel using my Minc machine. The banner is cut out with an Arched Stacklets die and I embossed the 'you are a hero' sentiment in silver. One flag was perfect for this smaller banner along with more silver glitter cardstock stars. The background is the same as the previous card, but this time I framed it with a Toffee cardstock frame cut out with the A2 Thin Frame Cutting Plate die.

Next up is a set of firecracker tags created with the new Firecracker Shaker die collection. I thought these would be perfect for adding to a gift bag of patriotic treats and/or gifts! I cut out the pieces for the firecracker from Blueberry (main body detail layer & base), Cherry Pop (topper overlay), Sugar Cube (topper base and fuse), Toffee (stick), and silver glitter cardstock (spark & smaller shaker stars). I assembled the shaker piece by backing the base detail layer with window acetate and adhering it to the main body base using foam sticky strips, filling the shaker with Bits & Pieces - Patriotic Party and the silver glitter cardstock stars.

I added the topper, stick, and fuse/spark to complete the firecracker and added an eyelet at the top to thread a piece of burlap twine through for tying the tag onto a treat or gift. The 'Happy 4th of July' sentiment from the Americana Expressions stamp set is stamped onto a Stitched Banner Stacklets die cut with Nocturne Versafine Clair ink and attached to the firecracker so it is coming out from behind it.
