taylored expressions - happy half sheet
July 02, 2024
Hey, everyone! There's a new release today at Taylored Expressions all around the concept that, we at Taylored Expressions, like to call: Happy Half Sheets! You might be familiar with the concept of 'One Sheet Wonder' and this is similar to that, except we are focusing on just a half sheet of cardstock to make things faster and easier. I have projects to share with you today using the products from this week's release - and you see that right, a few holiday cards today for Christmas in July!
The products for the Happy Half Sheets release are available to purchase RIGHT NOW in the Taylored Expressions webstore!
Here's a closer look at the set of 4 cards that I created using the Happy Half Sheet technique. I started with a half sheet of Toffee cardstock and stamped images onto it from the new Make it Merry stamp set. The color combination I used to stamp the images is Cilantro (large tree), Mulled Wine (present and candy cane), Jalapeño (skinny tree and holly), and Honey (stocking). I also added in Sugar Cube ink for the tiny stars and sparkle images. The pattern is stamped in a non-directional pattern and I started with the largest image in the set first and worked my way down from there. Once my cardstock was filled with the design, I added splatters using Chocolate Truffle liquid water color and Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof white ink.
I took my stamped half sheet of cardstock and cut it apart using one of the layout guides in the Happy Half Sheet Vol. 2 pack - it's the one I designed! The guide shows not only how to cut your cardstock apart, but also gives you card layout ideas using them. The pieces are added to Jalapeño card bases that are stamped with the Knock on Wood Background stamp using the same ink color for a tone on tone look.
The sentiments on the cards are from the Make it Merry stamp set. I stamped those onto Sugar Cube cardstock with Nocturne Versafine Clair ink and cut them out with the coordinating dies.
The final touch is a sprig of holly that is cut out using dies from the Peppermint Kisses Stencil & Die Combo set. The leaves are cut out from Cilantro cardstock and the berries are cut out of Mulled Wine cardstock. I tucked the holly by the sentiments on each card and then added Bits & Pieces - Red Glitter Drops to the berries for a touch of dimension and sparkle!
I have a video featured today over on the Taylored Expression blog featuring this set of cards. Watch below:

This next card is created with the Bits & Blooms stamp set (+ coordinating dies). The set works wonderfully for the Happy Half Sheet technique, but it's great for other styles of cards too! I stamped the flowers and leaves from the set on Sugar Cube cardstock:
- large flower - Cherry Pop shaded with Mulled Wine
- smaller flower - Pineapple shaded with Candy Corn
- stems and leaves - Green Tea
- small leaf sprig - Pear
For the shading on the flowers, I added ink to the stamp using a detail blender brush, stamping with my MISTI to build up the color with multiple impressions until I was happy with the blend.
I arranged the flowers in a frame cut out of Sugar Cube cardstock using a die from the Frame in Frame 3 die collection and adhered everything to a Toffee cardstock background embossed with the Dotted Diamonds embossing folder. The sentiment is stamped with Nocturne Versfine Clair ink and cut out with the coordinating die.
