taylored expressions - halloween & fall release
August 06, 2024
Hey, everyone! It's time for the Halloween & Fall release at Taylored Expressions! I have a few Halloween projects to share and a few fall projects to share with you today!
The products for today's release are available to purchase RIGHT NOW in the Taylored Expressions webstore!
First up is this spooky card pair created with the Halloween Scene Split Stamp & Stencil Combo set. This set has a 6x6 background that is split in two (pumpkins and flying bats) so that you can stamp it in multiple colors and line everything up easily to create the scene. It also has a stencil that you can use to add color to the pumpkin faces and a masking edge for covering the pumpkins so you can blend the sky background.
I created my Halloween scene by stamping and embossing the pumpkin portion of the stamp. I stamped it in Nocturne Versafine Clair ink with an additional layer of Versamark ink to get good coverage when embossing everything with Black Sparkle embossing powder. I left everything in place in my MISTI while I added color to the pumpkin faces with the stencil and then masked off the pumpkins to blend the sky using Dragonfruit, Plum Punch, Jelly Donut, and Blue Corn inks. Once I had the sky blended, I added splatters with Oreo liquid watercolor and Dr. Ph. Martin's bleed proof white ink. Then, I swapped out the split stamps to stamp the bats flying in the sky with Nocturne Versafine Clair ink.
I cut two panels to create mini slim cards using the Mini Slim Layer Stacklets die collection, added a layer of Black Licorice cardstock, and adhered the panels to Toffee top fold mini slim card bases. The sentiments are from the Spooktacular stamp set, are embossed with Black Sparkle embossing powder on Poppy Seed cardstock, and cut out with the coordinating dies. To complete my spooky scenes, I added bats cut out with the Little Bits - Bats die collection that are cut out from cardstock embossed with the Black Sparkle embossing powder like the pumpkins on the cards. I also scattered a few stars down the cards from the Bits & Pieces - Halloween Stars & Sparkles mix.

I am always a fan of creating tags for the different holidays throughout the year and here are a few personalized ones that I created for my family using the new Stayin' Alive stamp set along with a few other Halloween products. The skeletons from the Stayin' Alive set are embossed in white on Black Licorice cardstock and cut out with the coordinating dies. I created a spooky scene for them on tags that are cut out from Toffee cardstock using the Tag Stacklets 4 die collection. The tags are stamped with the Spiderweb background stamp using Sugar Cube ink and I added a tombstone border across the bottom of the tags with a die from the Graveyard Shift Border die collection (an exclusive set you can earn during this release while supplies last.) I cut out the border from Poppy Seed cardstock and added shading along the top with Poppy Seed ink. Splatters are added to the tag and border using Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White ink.
The names on the tags are created with the new Stitched Alpha die collection - I am so excited about this new alphabet set! I cut the letters out from Candy Corn cardstock and added them above the skeletons on the tags. The reinforcements on the tags are die cut from Black Licorice cardstock using the Tag Reinforcements die collection and I finished things off with a few Oreo enamel dots sprinkled down the tags and burlap twine added to the tops of the tags.

Finally today, I have a set of cards and tags to share with you that I created with the Plentiful Pumpkin collection, that I illustrated/designed. If you remember the Peaceful Dove and Joyful Bunny collections, this one is is the fall version of that series. The Plentiful Pumpkin Stamp & Stencil Combo set has a background stamp featuring a pumpkin and background design. You can use the stencils to add the floral pattern and details to the pumpkin image. The Plentiful Pumpkin die is designed to coordinate with the stencils and is sized to layer over the background design There is a separate stem die so you have the option to add that in a different cardstock color.
This card uses just the stamp & stencil combo. I stamped the background with Sugar Cube ink on Toffee cardstock and then added the stenciled design using Spearmint (shaded with Green Tea), Peaches 'n' Cream (shaded with Guava) and Chocolate Truffle (for the flower centers), and Honey. There is an etched outline of the pumpkin on the stencils to help you line everything up.
For this card, I stamped the background and then cut out the pumpkin using the dies from Peaches 'n' Cream and Spearmint cardstock. I added a bit of shading to each piece using the same color of ink and then added the stenciled design to the pumpkin using the same colors as the card above. There are impressed etchings in the die cut that work with the stenciled design that are also a great guide for lining up the stencil layers. I added the pumpkin to the stamped background with foam adhesive.
Each of the cards is framed with a thin frame cut out of Sugar Cube cardstock with the A2 Thin Frame Cutting Plate die. I added sentiments that are stamped with the Happy Harvest stamp set with Chocolate Truffle ink and cut out with the coordinating dies. I also tucked a few leaves on the right side of the sentiments that are cut out using the Fall Flurry die collection from Peaches 'n' Cream and Spearmint cardstock. I added shading to them with the same color of ink and splatters are added to the leaves, pumpkins, and backgrounds with Chocolate Truffle liquid watercolor and Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White ink.
I put together a few extra pumpkins and created tags by adding an eyelet and burlap twine to the stems of the pumpkins. The finishing touch on the cards and tags are Bits & Pieces - Gold Glitter Drops to add a bit of sparkle.
