Hnichols-tombstonestreatskit-TE

Hey, everyone! I'm excited to share the newest kit that I illustrated/designed debuting today at Taylored Expressions: the Tombstone Treats Kit. This is a kit geared towards creating treat boxes for Halloween tricks and treats! I have lots of projects to share with you today that I created with the kit, including a set of cards and tags! While this kit is gear towards treat box making, you can definitely create much more!

Here are the details about the Tombstone Treats Kit:

This kit is $49 and comes neatly packaged in a handy zippered pouch with a custom sticker, making it easy to access everything you need to create delightfully spooky treat boxes. Inside, you'll find:

  • The Point of No Return Die
  • Creepy Companions Die
  • Treats to Die For clear stamp
  • 20 Pre-Cut Boxes in Black Licorice TE Premium Cardstock
Kits go fast and most items are not available to purchase outside the kit.

Here is a closer look at the projects that I created with the kit:

First up is this whole spooky graveyard of treat boxes! The project starts with the Treats & Trinkets box that you can either put together with the pre-cut option or the die. You get 20 pre-cut Black Licorice boxes in the kit and you can purchase more pre-cut boxes outside of the kit and/or also get the die to cut out your own boxes from any color cardstock that you wish! These little boxes are sized to hold a few fun size candy bars or other small treats or gifts. I am excited because these treat boxes are also going to be so useful to use throughout the year! I put together boxes for my treat box graveyard using both Black Licorice and Earl Grey cardstock.

The Point of No Return die collection includes 2 different tombstone designs that fit perfectly onto the treat boxes to transform them for Halloween. I cut out my tombstones from Earl Grey and Poppy Seed cardstock, added blending around the edges with the matching ink color, and added splatters with Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White ink and Oreo liquid watercolor. The sentiments on the tombstones are from the Treats to Die For stamp set and I embossed them with black glitter embossing powder onto the frame cut outs included in The Point of No Return die collection. They are added to the tombstones with foam adhesive and I also added cross die cuts to the top of a couple of the tombstones.

Using the Creepy Companions die collection, I created skulls, ghosts, and ravens to add to my spooky boxes. The pumpkins are created using the Layer It - Pumpkins die collection and Jack-o-Lantern cutting plate and I added spiders cut out with the Little Bits - Spiders die from black glitter cardstock.

These little tombstone treat boxes are going to be so much fun for Halloween! You can fill these up for your special trick-or-treaters, for classroom treats, and as favors for a Halloween party! Besides treat boxes, I created a few cards and a set of tags with the kit as well. Keep scrolling to see more!

The elements from the kit are perfect for creating spooky scenes on Halloween cards! I used the Build a Scene - Snow Drifts dies to cut out the ground for these two spooky cards from Sweet Basil cardstock and added bats flying in the sky stamped with the Halloween Scene Split Stamp. The card on the left has a Poppy Seed cardstock background stamped with Poppy Seed ink and the card on the right has an Earl Grey background stamped with Earl Grey ink.

I added the tombstones, ghosts, skulls, pumpkins, raven, and spiders to the scene and then framed them with Black Licorice frames cut out with the A2 Thin Frame Cutting Plate die. The finishing touch is a few black stars scattered in the sky that are from the Bits & Pieces - Halloween Stars & Sparkles mix.

And of course, I had to create a set of TAGS with the tombstones! These are going to be so much fun tied onto Halloween treat bags and gifts! All of the tombstones and details are created like I described above and the tombstones are perfectly symmetrical, so I backed each one to make them extra sturdy.

I punched a hole with and set an eyelet at the top of each tombstone and added twine so they are ready for tying onto treats!
